The Fort Caswell 150 Pdr. Armstrong Rifle at Annapolis, Maryland after the War

The `other` large Armstrong seacoast gun, purchased by the Confederate government, sits here among other seacoast and naval artillery at Annapolis, Maryland. This powerful gun was supposedly sited at Fort Caswell, on the West side of the Cape Fear River where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Evidently the Union Navy picked it out of the rubble of that fort after Fort Fisher fell and Confederate troops moved north toward Wilmington. Unfortunately, it disappeared a long time ago and has not turned up to this day.
